Online Supervised Assessment System Guidelines

The Accounting and Finance faculty has created a new “Online Supervised Assessment System” for online students. This online supervised assessment system enables students to sit supervised assessments at home or office on the Learn(m2) platform. The Learn (m2) platform provides for supervision by a TAFE SA invigilator through Skype using a webcam. This facility, available to students from 21 April 2016, will no longer require students to travel to a campus in order to sit their supervised assessments.

All students are encouraged to use this new online assessment facility. Where circumstances (e.g. medical conditions) prevent you from using this online supervised assessment system you can apply to sit your supervised assessment at a campus or other suitable location. Applications to sit your supervised assessment at a campus or other suitable location should include reasons why you are unable to use the online assessment system and your preferred location for sitting your assessment.

This application should be emailed to fjp.assessments@tafesa.edu.au

1. Assessment Booking

For units that require a supervised assessment students are required to book a session using the online booking link below or via the “Final Supervised Assessment Booking” section in their Learn (m2) course page.

Supervised assessments should be booked at least 7 days in advance and the assessment date must be before the course finish date.

To book your assessment please click on Online Booking System
2. Booking Confirmation

A booking confirmation will be emailed to you within 24 hours of the assessment booking request being received. This confirmation email will include online assessment instructions as well as the terms and conditions.

If you do not receive a booking confirmation within two business days, then please send an email to fjp.assessments@tafesa.edu.au

3. Cancelling or Changing a Booking

The confirmation email will contain a link for the cancellation of bookings. If you have a valid reason to cancel you booking please click on the link provided at least 2 days prior to the assessment date to cancel your booking. You can then book a new online assessment session.

4.Terms and Conditions

Before commencing an online assessment students must agree to the “Online Supervised Assessment Terms and Conditions”. Please download and read these by clicking on"Terms and Conditions" prior to sitting the assessment.

On and Off Campus Assessments

All students are encouraged to use this new online assessment facility. Where circumstances (e.g. medical conditions) prevent students from using this online supervised assessment system they can apply to sit their supervised assessment at a campus or other suitable location.

Applications to sit a supervised assessment at a campus or other suitable location should include reasons why the student cannot use the online assessment system and their preferred location for sitting a supervised assessment. This request should be emailed to FJP.assessments@tafesa.edu.au

If students wish to sit an assessment in front of an invigilator, they are able to do the online assessment without skype through Learn(m2) platform. Students should email the invigilators details to the Assessment Coordinator 7 days prior to the assessment via FJP.assessments@tafesa.edu.au. Detailed assessment instructions will be emailed to student and the invigilator prior to the assessment.

Depending on where the student is sitting the assessment four options are available:

Option 1: TAFE SA Financial Services Campuses

Adelaide City Campus, Noarlunga Campus, Victor Harbor Campus, Whyalla Campus, Mt Barker Campus & Mt Gambier Campus .

If students contact a lecturer to book an assessment outside of campus schedule date and time, it is at the lecturer’s discretion to accept their request.

If the lecturer is unable to assist with a student’s request please direct them to FJP.assessments@tafesa.edu.au

Option 2: Other TAFE SA Campuses

If a student wishes to sit a supervised assessment at another TAFE SA Campus, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange the time and date by contacting the respective TAFE SA campus or relevant TAFE SA library. Click on the following link for TAFE SA contact details

Option 3: TAFE SA approved interstate locations

If a student wishes to sit the supervised assessment at a TAFESA approved institution, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange the time and date with one of the approved assessment centres throughout Australia (see link below).

Note: These institutions may charge the student a fee to sit a supervised assessment. Click on the following link for Approved Assessment Centres

Option 4: TAFE SA non approved institutions or private invigilators

If students are unable to sit the supervised assessment at any of the above 3 options, there may be an option to sit the assessments through a TAFE SA non-approved invigilator.

Students should request this option for approval for TAFE SA non-approved invigilation via FJP.assessments@tafesa.edu.au

The approval will be granted based on valid reason and unavoidable circumstances only. Before booking their supervised assessment at TAFE SA non approved institutions or private invigilators, they should obtain approval.

A private invigilator cannot be a person related to the student by blood or marriage, or a close friend of the family.

Please note that invigilation at a students' workplace will be approved in very limited circumstances only.

Examples of suitable people for non-approved institutions or private invigilators: Doctor, Dentist, Lawyer, Staff Development Officer, Director of Nursing (DON), Justice of the Peace (JP), Police Officer, School Principal or Assistant Principal, Librarian, an Examination Officer from any TAFE, University or similar Educational Institution or Examination Centre.
