This book contains some useful hints on using TAFE SA Portal features.
Select the chapters on the right to get started.
1. Accessing the TAFE SA Portal
To gain access to the TAFE SA Portal, simply use a web browser to access the internet.
Step 1 – Visit the TAFE SA Website at www.tafesa.edu.au
Click on the PORTAL link in the top of the webpage, to access the TAFE SA Portal.
Step 2 – Logging in
Enter your TAFE SA log in details in the TAFE SA sign in page.

Your login details will be:
Username
Your student email address – for example:
firstname.lastname@student.tafesa.edu.au
Password
If you have not logged into the TAFE SA system before:
Aa and your 8-digit date of birth – for example: Aa31011985
If you have logged onto the TAFE SA system before:
The password you selected when you logged in for the first time
1.1. Stay Logged In
When using the TAFE SA Portal, you can stay logged in while accessing the different online services available.
If you keep the Internet Browser window open, you can all access the different services on each Tab without needing to sign in again.
2. TAFE SA Portal Features
Office 365 is Microsoft’s online access to apps and services, designed to help your productivity in business and study. Get apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more, updated monthly with the latest features and security updates.
Use cloud email to reach people. Save files to OneDrive with one terabyte of online storage, allowing access across devices and on the go.
Learn is the online learning platform used in TAFE SA. In Learn, you can access course content including e-books, weblinks, videos, interactive quizzes, virtual classrooms and more.
When you are enrolled onto Learn course, you will be able to access all your learning materials for you course online. You will also be able to submit your completed work to your Lecturer using the Learn course
Using myTAFE SA will allow you to access all your student records while you are enrolled with TAFE SA.
In myTAFE SA, you can enrol and drop classes, update your contact details and access your academic transcript.
In the Library, you can access the TAFE SA Library services.
When using the Library services, you can access the TAFE SA library catalogue, streaming videos and the Library Starter Kit.
You can also access online resources such as; study guides, subject guides, resource databases and My Information Skills.
3. Password Reset
If you forget your password, visit the TAFE SA Portal
and click Reset Password button or visit https://otp.tafesa.edu.au
An unlock code will be sent to the personal email address you provided when you enrolled with TAFE SA. Otherwise if you have previously changed your password recovery details, the code will be sent to your chosen method (phone or email).
Update your password recovery contact details to update your email address or phone number for recovering your password, visit https://otpreg.tafea.edu.au. You must know your current password to change these details.
Please Note: If you change the password for your email account, make sure you also update the password in any mobile devices or other email programs that you have configured.
To use the online password rest service, you must register your mobile or alternative email.
3.1. Password Requirements
By default, TAFE SA Email (Office 365) user passwords are set to expire every 90 days. When your password expires, you are notified upon signing in.
When you create a new password, you must meet the following requirements:
- Use 8 to 16 characters
- Must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
- Lowercase characters (a – z)
- Uppercase characters (A – Z)
- Numerals (0-9)
- Symbols, including: ! @ # $ % ^ & * - _ + = [ ] { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ` ~ “ < > ( ) ;
- You cannot use your Student ID number or your first or last name as part of your password.
