This LEARN course provides comprehensive diagnostic tests, learning materials and activities supporting the unit SWEELT001 - Listen to and engage in short simple spoken transactions which is taught to AMEP elementary students. The learning resources vary in complexity given the spiky profile of many elementary students ranging from an ISLPR of -1 to 1+ with 1+ being the exit goal of the unit.

The first element of SWEELT001 requires that students comprehend short simple spoken transactions while in the second element students must participate in short simple spoken transactions. As a result, there is a strong focus on aural and oral communication skills throughout this course.

To enhance the learning experience, the activities are structured in a scaffolded manner, allowing for content to build upon previously learned material. In general, the videos and other interactive resources are subtitled, offering students the opportunity to develop decoding and word recognition skills.

The course also offers downloadable activities that can be completed in paper format. Students can record their work and submit their recordings to their teachers. Alternatively, they can practice with their teachers.
