Course Overview

This course is designed to assist university students and graduates seeking employment in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, business and financial services. 

For university students and graduates holders who do not have previous Australian work experience and/or practical work skills this course will develop the skills and knowledge sought by employers and recruitment agencies.

Employment Opportunities

Entry level employment in accounting, bookkeeping, business or financial services could include any of the following roles; licensed bookkeeper, registered BAS agent, accounts payable officer, accounts receivable officer, payroll officer, store keeper, inventory manager, stock control officer, contracted bookkeeper and accounts supervisor.

  • Business tax calculations 
  • Computerised bookkeeping - MYOB
  • Computerised bookkeeping - XERO 
  • Preparing and processing payroll
  • Preparation and lodgement of the Business Activity Statements (BAS) to Australian Tax Office (ATO)

Professional Accreditation

The units of competency that comprise this course are Australian Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) approved for Licensed Bookkeepers or BAS agent registration or renewal of TPB registration. Detailed Information can be found by clicking on TPB

Nationally Accredited units covered:

  • Process business tax requirements (FNSACC411)

  • Setup and operate a computerised accounting system (MYOB) (FNSACC416)

  • Establish and maintain a payroll system (FNSTPB402) 

  • Complete business activity and instalment activity statements (FNSTPB401)

Eligibility criteria for SA Government Metro Delivery (MD) funding:  

Student must

  • be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or hold an eligible Visa

  • reside in South Australia,

  • be 16 years of age or over.

Study Mode:

This course is available for On Campus and Online Study.

  • On Campus Study: Face to face training will be offered at Adelaide City Campus and Gilles Plains Campus. Please see detailed timetable below.

  • Online Study: This is self-paced learning that enables you to study at your own pace and includes the option to fast-track your studies to complete the course within a shorter time frame. Students using online study are supported in their learning through interaction with lecturers by phone, email and in discussion forums and chat groups.
