Michael joined Justice and Policing Studies in 2011 as a Lecturer after a successful career of 43 years with the South Australia Police.

Michael has extensive experience within the investigation training arena both at the state, national and international levels. He was awarded the Australian Police Medal (APM) in the 2002 Queens Birthday Honors List for distinguished service to the South Australia Police as the Crime Training Development Coordinator over a number of years.

He has facilitated training both in the Kingdom of Tonga and Samoa. As a member of the Australian Federal Police International Deployment Program he served with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) both in the operational and capacity building context and also with the Policia Nacional Timor Leste (PNTL).
Michael has also studied cognitive interviewing / conversation management interview techniques with the Kent Constabulary in the United Kingdom and developed and facilitated training with these contemporary forms of investigative interviewing to the South Australia Police.

Michael has nearly 40 years Army Reserve experience with the Royal Australian Corps of Military Police.
