Alternative Mobile phone number
112 (one-one-two) is the worldwide emergency telephone number.
The GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) telephone users who make calls to 112 generally have their calls redirected to the local emergency telephone number, if it exists. This is valuable for foreign travellers, who may not know the local emergency number. Most GSM mobile phones can dial 112 calls even when the phone keyboard is locked or the phone is without a SIM card.
Mobile phone users should list an emergency contact in their address box under In Case of Emergency or shortened to ICE. This would allow emergency personnel to ring your nominated number if you are unable to provide this information in the event of an emergency.
The ICE contact number is to be used by specific medical professionals only.
